News and Events for the Radon and Vapor Intrusion Industry

We Need Your Feedback!

Each year IEA asks stakeholders to provide feedback on a few questions that help gauge the state of the industry.  Please take a few minutes to respond to IEA’s 2025 survey.

In this episode of The Indoor Environments Project, we’re taking a step back—and a big step forward.

Join us for a fascinating conversation with Zan Jones, a longtime advocate, educator, and leader in the radon industry, as we explore the history of radon, how the industry first took shape, and where it’s headed next.

Public Review – ANSI/AARST MAH (Protocol for Conducting Measurements of Radon and Radon Decay Products in Homes)

This public review event represents the first in a series across 2025-2026 for incrementally improving ANSI/AARST MAH 2023. The proposed content in this public review addresses initial administrative improvements.

This standard of practice specifies procedures and minimum requirements when measuring radon concentrations in single-family residences for determining if radon mitigation is necessary to protect current and future occupants.

NRPP Announces Supervisory Audits

NRPP certified Radon Measurement Field Technicians (RMFTs) and Radon Mitigation Installers (RMIs) are required to work under the direct supervision of a certified Radon Measurement Professional (RMP) or Radon Mitigation Specialist (RMS) as a condition of their certification. To meet this certification requirement, RMFTs and RMIs submit a completed and signed Statement of Responsibility form to report the name of their supervising RMP or RMS. The form is required to be resubmitted if their supervisor changes.

It has come to NRPP’s attention that some RMFTs and RMIs no longer report to the same individual originally identified on the Statement of Responsibility form or never did report to that individual. NRPP is currently auditing these relationships and are asking the RMPs and RMSs who were identified as a supervisor on a RMFT’s or RMI’s Statement of Responsibility form to confirm the relationship. RMFTs and RMIs without a valid supervisor will need to find one to remain certified.

Effective Immediately:
RMFTs and RMIs now have seven (7) business days to notify NRPP when their supervisor changes or when the relationship is severed and the previously reported supervisor is no longer supervising the RMFT or RMI.

After seven (7) days, if no new supervisor is reported, the RMFT’s/RMI’s certification will be suspended. If a supervisor is reported and verified while suspended, the person’s certification will be reactivated. If, after 90 days, NRPP has not received an updated form, the RMFT’s/RMI’s certification will be revoked. Any RMFT/RMI that cannot find a new supervisor and wishes to remain certified must earn the full RMP or RMS credential within those 90 days.

Both suspension and revocation lead to removal of the individual from the certification directory on the NRPP website and the individual must cease & desist all references to NRPP certification. After revocation, if an individual wishes to reinstate their RMFT or RMI certification they must start over as a new applicant.
