Standards Consortium Call for Volunteers

To become a candidate for joining a committee, or to find out more about committee participation, go to:

https://standards.aarst.org/request-committee-participation/

Note: There are often a few open seats on any of the six Consortium Standards Committees. This is because our ANSI/AARST policies require diverse representation of stakeholder interest groups on each committee.

The window for volunteering to join the following committees expires on February 15th, 2027.

1. We are looking to fill a vacant seat for representing radon mitigation professionals on:
a. the radon measurement standards of practice committee; and

b. the radon measurement quality assurance committee.

Mitigation professionals have uniquely different experiences to contribute compared to other interest groups.

2. New Standards Project (Vapor Intrusion Measurement):
A new committee is being formed to focus on minimum requirements for conducting measurements of chemicals of concern relative to Vapor Intrusion and related considerations.

This committee is tasked to create minimum standards of practice relative to two proposed standards: VI-MA (Vapor Intrusion Measurement and Sampling of Indoor Air and Sub-Slab Soil Gas); and as applicable, VI-CMS (Conceptual Site Model for Vapor Intrusion)

As a generic description of diverse stakeholder interest groups needed, we seek to seat individuals from the following interest categories:

—Consumer interests, as it relates to public health and safety. This category can include those experienced in non-regulatory government programs, non-government organizations, OM&M, Building Inspections, etc.;

—Regulatory Programs, that can include experience in federal, state, tribe, and private sector programs;

—Measurement Practitioners, experienced in taking samples and measurements in the field;

—Mitigation Practitioners, experienced in systems specifically designed to protect building occupants;

—General interest participants that can include environmental consultants, laboratory services, scientists, etc.; and

—Manufacturer and product sales representatives

Webinar: Best Practices for Radon Test Kit Distribution Programs

The American Lung Association is holding a free, one-hour webinar to learn more about best practices for radon test kit distribution programs that enhance utilization and support radon reduction.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 18th  |  12PM – 1PM CT

Providing access to radon test kits is an important first step, but getting residents to complete testing and take action based on their results is what ultimately makes a difference in reducing radon exposure and preventing lung cancer. This past year, the Lung Association conducted a multi-method evaluation of radon test kit distribution programs across the country.

Featuring three programs operating at the local, county, and state levels, presenters will share program components that have been effective in their communities, why those approaches work within their unique landscapes, and lessons learned from implementation.
